Worldwide Musicals:
Theater in Any Language
Worldwide Musicals: Theater in Any Language is a multilingual musical workshop program for diverse communities and school groups. Participants collaborate on scriptwriting, songwriting, performance, and media production as they learn useful words and expressions in the languages spoken by the group. The workshop leads to public presentations of the group's original work. In June of 2007, a group of students and local community members began to collaborate on creating a show that they eventually titled: Destiny. Worldwide Voices in association with their Long Island Community Partners Airport Playhouse and the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association present these performances as part of EMBRACING OUR DIFFERENCES - LONG ISLAND, a month-long series of arts events celebrating diversity in Suffolk and Nassau Counties.
Embracing Our Differences is a project of the Suffolk Center on the Holocaust, Diversity & Human Understanding in association with Suffolk Community College and the Town of Huntington.
This project is made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts. In Suffolk County the Decentralization Program is administered by the Huntington Arts Council, Inc. in partnership with the Suffolk Consortium of Arts Councils. Additional support is provided by Target, Heartworks International, and Friends of Worldwide Voices.
